2021 Bookish Resolutions

Hello, and happy new year! I am so excited that 2020 is over, and I’m really excited that it’s 2021. I have lots of plans for what I want to do in 2021, and like I did last year, I have a post with my bookish (and non-bookish) resolutions for the year!

Reading goals:

Number of books: My overall reading goal for 2021 is too read 200 books. This is the same as what I did for 2020, and I’ll hopefully be able to keep up with that.

Book format: In 2020, I read a lot more audiobooks than I had in the past, and I want to continue with that in 2021. I don’t have a certain number of audiobooks that I want to read, but just to continue to read more of them.

Reading stats: I really want to be able to look back at my reading statistics, and see how much I read and more about all of that, and I’m going to track more of that in 2021. I’ve thought about it for a few months, and I decided that I’m going to switch to using Storygraph instead of Goodreads to track my reading. I might do a post in a few months on how that’s going, but for now I’m just going to do my best with keeping track of all of the books I read!

That’s all that I’m going to write for my reading goals because I have a whole other post planned for tommorow of my overall reading goals for 2021 where I’m going to go into a lot more detail!

Writing goals:

Creative writing: I want to do a lot of creative writing this year! I currently have a rough draft of my nanowrimo novel done, and I want to go through and revise that in 2021. My hope is that by the end of the year I’ll have a more polished draft, that I can possibly share with some people.

Journaling: I want to try and write in one of my journals at least once a month. This doesn’t sound like a lot, but I’m usually so inconsistent, that writing a few pages once a month would be a huge improvement.

Consistency: I want to continue to be consistent with how often I write. I know that writing every single day isn’t super realistic, because I don’t always have a ton of time, but setting aside some times a few days a week is something that I hope I’ll be able to work on doing better.

Blogging goals:

Posting schedule: I want to consistently post 3 times a week, and also not feel like I need to be doing more than that. If I have time to post more than 3 times a week, then that’s great, but if I don’t, I don’t want to pressure myself to.

Plan out posts in advance: I want to plan out the posts that I write more in advance, and have an idea of what I’m going to be writing and working on throughout each month.

Scheduling posts in advance: I want to schedule more of my posts in advance, and at least draft them in advance. This is something that I have not at all done this year, but I want to get better with.

Blog hopping: I want to spend more time reading and commenting on other blogs and discovering lots of new ones!

  1. These look like fantastic goals! 200 books is incredible—I don’t think I’ve ever hit that number, and I wish you luck 😀 And good luck with revising your nanowrimo novel as well! I spent 2020 revising the novel I wrote the year before and it was a wonderful challenge. I hope you manage to achieve all of your goals this year!!

    1. I don’t know how I’ll do revising my whole novel; I’ve never actually gotten this far with a draft 😂 but I’m going to see how it goes! Thank you so much Margaret, I hope you have a great 2021! 🥰

  2. I’ve heard about Storygraph but I don’t know if I’m going to switch since I almost broke my computer trying to get a goodreads account haha. I really need to finish a first draft of my book, I’m losing inspiration and I don’t know what to do.
I’m trying for 200 books as well! I’m also planning to post more – maybe 9 times a month? I’ll see how it works out.
    Good luck!

  3. I see you mentioned Storygraph! I used the Beta version for a bit, and I really loved how the statistics were laid out, so I’m hoping to use it as well this year.

Best of luck in all of your goals for the year! It seems you have everything pretty well-thought out, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out!

  4. Wow, I feel small with my 60 books goal when I see your 200 haha. I’m going to try scheduling posts too and posting around 6-8 times a month. Happy New Year, great post 🤎
