WWW Wednesday 72

Hello, and happy Wednesday! This week at school has been rough, but since I have a four day week, tomorrow is my last day before a three day weekend. I’m really excited for that, and I’ll hopefully have lots of time to read! Anyways, I did have time to read this past week, and finished two books as well as making progress on another. So, I’m excited to get into my weekly reading update, and to talk about the books that I’ve been reading, and that I’ve just finished with!

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On a World of Words, and how it works is each week I answer three questions about my the books I’ve read, finished reading and want to read next.

The three Ws:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

I am currently reading A Torch against the Night, by Sabaa Tahir and Radar Girls, by Sara Ackerman.

I’m almost done with Radar Girls, and it’s so good!! I love the story and the characters, and I’m really excited to finish the book. It’s set in Hawaii during the second world war, and it’s about the girls and women who were recruited to help out in the military. It is really interesting to see just how much the war changed things for women, with the jobs that were available to them, and the complete shift in their roles in society, with so many men gone to fight.

I didn’t make any more progress on A Torch Against the Night, but I really want to finish it this week, because I’ve been reading it for a while now. It is the sequel to An Ember in the Ashes, and I really like it. I’m glad that I’m finally getting around to continuing the series, after a long time of not doing that!

What did you recently finish reading?

In the last week, I read When You Get the Chance, by Emma Lord and I finished reading Majesty, by Katharine McGee.

I’m a huge fan of Emma Lord’s books, so I was thrilled to read When You Get the Chance. It’s absolutely incredible, and lived up to every expectation that I had for it! I’ve been excited for it for months, and it just came out a couple of weeks ago. It’s fast-paced, fun, and very entertaining, everything that I’ve come to expect from Emma Lord. The characters all have so much depth, and the plot is so fun. I definitely recommend it to any fans of YA contemporary romance!

Majesty, by Katharine McGee is the other book I read this week. It’s the sequel to American Royals, which I read a little while ago, and enjoyed. The books aren’t fantastically written in terms of plot and depth and all that, but they are very, very entertaining. The third and final book in the trilogy, Rivals, comes out this May, and I know that I’ll want to get around to it at some point, since there are a lot of unresolved plot points from the past two books.

I also decided to DNF You’ll Be the Death of Me, by Karen M McManus. It’s so similar to her other book, One of Us is Lying, the plot felt really slow, and I honestly just didn’t want to spend my time on it. I like thrillers, but this one was very bland.

I’m keeping my list right here the same: I still want to read A Deadly Education, by Naomi Novik, The Keeper of the Night, by Kylie Lee Baker and Empire of the Sun, by J. G. Ballard.

I at least want to finish one of these, and since I have a three day weekend that will hopefully be possible. If I can more than one, then I will!

Have you read any of the books I mentioned? What are you currently reading? Chat with me in the comments below!
