2020 goals check in PLUS some new ones

Hello, and a very late Shana Tova! I haven’t posted in almost a week, but today I have a post that I have been meaning to write for a while. I would have called this a mid-year goals check in, but really, it’s way past the middle of the year.

Anyways, I’m just going to be going through the goals that I set at the beginning of the year, seeing how I’m doing on them, and also adding some new ones!

Written in the Stars: August 2020 Owlcrate Unboxing

When your sister runs into your room screaming ‘you have to see this,’ drags you outside, and you both stare up at the cloud drifting overhead in amazement, the first cloud you’ve seen in a week, there is too much smoke in the sky.

When you look at the sun and immediately turn away because you didn’t realize that you’d actually be able to see it for once, there has been too much smoke.

And when your school (which is entirely online) gets postponed a week so it’s starting on the 21st there is way too much smoke.

I am very fortunately not in an evacuation zone, but the smoke from the Oregon fires has blown in and over Eugene, and the air quality is ‘very unhealthy.’ Although that is an improvement from hazardous.

Anyways, a couple weeks ago I got my very first Owlcrate box! It was really fun, and I’ve never gotten a book box or anything before, so I thought that I’d do an post with photo’s of everything that was in the box!

The Silvered Serpents, by Roshani Chokshi | a spoiler free review

The Silvered Serpents, by Roshani Chokshi, is a truly terrifying book. It is a reminder that books have the power to tear us apart inside, to break our hearts into a million pieces. It is also a reminder that books have the power to make us feel warm and happy, to give us characters that we can’t help but feel the need to protect.

All in all, The Silvered Serpents, by Roshani Chokshi is a masterpiece.

Let’s Talk Bookish: How To Encourage Others To Read

Reading is a magical thing. And sometimes it feels like the most difficult thing to just make other people understand that. So I put together a list of a few reasons to remind your friends, acquaintances, and random people you pass on the street of why they should read.

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly discussion post created by Rukky @ Eternity Books and is hosted by Rukky and Dani @ A Literary Lion! This week’s topic is: How To Encourage Others To Read (suggested by Rian @ Dogs and Books)

So… for the last few days, there has been a lot of smoke where I live. And by a lot, I mean that you can’t go outside for long because it’s hard to breath, and you can barely see two blocks down the street. All the smoke is from the wildfires that are all over Oregon (and the west coast) and although it’s very unlikely I’d have to evacuate because I’m in the middle of a city, we might lose power and/or our water.

On that happy note, I’m onto the first WWW Wednesday that I’ve done in a while! WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On a World of Words, and how it works is each week I answer three questions about my the books I’ve read, finished reading and want to read next:
