Hello! I’m excited be posting my second LTB post of 2025, from last Friday. The topic was a 2024 reading wrap up, so I’m going to be talking about some of my most memorable reads and some other bookish stats from the year. So, let’s get into the post!

Prompts: What were the best books you read in 2024?

Four of my favorite books of 2024 (though it is hard to choose) were Medea by Euripides, The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, and A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf.
All four were definitely outside of my literary comfort zone, but definitely made me grow as a reader and honestly as a person in general. I’ve thought about all of these books practically nonstop since I read them, and I’m so glad that I read more classics this year!

Another of my favorites was Make My Wish Come True by Rachael Lippincott and Alyson Derrick, which was such a fun, warm, and entertaining read. It totally brought me out of a reading slump in early December, and gave me so much motivation to read in the last couple weeks of the year!
It also makes me so excited to read more by Rachael Lippincott and Alyson Derrick, and I can’t recommend it more for anyone wanting a cozy winter YA romcom.
Did you meet your reading goals?
I met some! (and adjusted some others…)
Overall, I read a total of 26 books in 2024, which was an all-time low for me, which didn’t feel great. I was so insanely busy this past year, with school, college applications, and everything, so reading just wasn’t as much as a priority as I would have liked it to be.
That said, I did really love most of the 26 books I read, and though I didn’t meet my initial goal of 50 books (which was then lowered to 25), I met some of my other goals. I read a lot of classics this past year, which I was wanting to do, and also annotated a couple books, which was really fun.
Did you read any 2024 releases? Did you discover any new favorite authors? Tell us all about your most memorable reads of the year!

I read two 2024 releases, which was lower than usual, but I really liked both of the ones I read! One was Make My Wish Come True, which I mentioned above, and the other was Nothing Like the Movies by Lynn Painter.
It’s the sequel to Better than the Movies, a YA contemporary romance, and was such a fantastic book! Both of the books were very fast paced and had great characters, and were just so much fun to read. I’m definitely going to be looking for more books by Lynn Painter!

I wrote an entire Top Ten Tuesday post with my 2024 favourites 🙂 The Bell Jar unfortunately was a DNF for me.

Fun! And I get it – The Bell Jar definitely isn’t for everyone.
