Let’s Talk Bookish: Are You an Indecisive Reader?

Hello! This post is so very late, but I’m so glad that I finally got it done. It was so much fun to write, and I also loved reading all of your posts for the prompt! So, let’s get into last week’s LTB, which is all about the question are you an indecisive reader?

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly bookish meme created by Rukky @ Eternity Books and has been hosted by me since April 2022! Each Friday, there is a discussion topic for bloggers to write about. This week’s topic is are you an indecisive reader?

As always, if you have topic suggestions of your own, you can suggest them in this form.

Do you always know exactly what to read next? Or do you struggle to pick your next read?

I always have so many books that I want to read that it can be hard to pick just one. Usually, I’ll just pick whichever one I’m most feeling like reading in the moment, but sometimes its hard to figure out which book I think I’ll like most.

Sometimes it is tricky for me to pick which books to read next, especially during the school year. Right now, I’m so exhausted from all my schoolwork that when I get home, I don’t always have the time or energy to read. This makes it hard to pick up a slightly confusing classic or dense fantasy book, and so I’ll often turn to easier reads. Often, I just won’t read at all because I can’t pick a book to stick with.

So no, I don’t always know exactly what to read next, and more often than not I have no idea what to read!

Are you constantly jumping between books and genres? How do you pick the books you read?

I’m almost always reading more than one book, and I’m definitely more of a mood reader. I like being in the middle of an audiobook and at least one physical book. In terms choosing the books I read, it’s a balance between what I want to read and what I have to read.

I have some reading for school, and also review copies from publishers. Having to read those isn’t necessarily a bad thing–I just got a digital copy of the upcoming Sophie Gonzales book and can’t wait to read it. However, it does mean that I have to create a bit of a reading schedule.

This doesn’t mean I’m really strict about when and what I read. I love picking up random books that I stumble across or going back and rereading old favorites.

So, when choosing which books to read, I kind of just think about all that!
