Let’s Talk Bookish: Comics

Hello! We’re a week into camp nanowrimo, and although I am a bit behind, I’m having fun with getting back into some creative writing. I’m also excited to talk about comics today, in this week’s LTB discussion. It’s pretty short, but I had fun with it. So, let’s get into the post!

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly bookish meme created by Rukky @ Eternity Books and has been hosted by me since April 2022! Each Friday, there is a discussion topic for bloggers to write about. This week’s topic is all about comics suggested by The Bageler @ It’s the Bageler!

Prompts: This week’s topic is all about comics! Different from graphic novels, which are usually released as a whole and longer book, comics are released in multiple, shorter, parts. Do you read comics?  If you do, what are some of your favorites? If you don’t, why not? How do they compare to novels, graphic novels, or audiobooks?

I don’t read comics a ton, but I do occasionally. And when I read them, I do have fun! It can be refreshing to read comics if I’ve been reading a lot of physical books, and having images and drawings of all the characters brings the stories to life in such a fun way.

Last spring, I read all the Ms. Marvel comics, which I loved! The stories are awesome, and all the illustrations are amazing. I hadn’t really read any comics before reading them, and it made me want to explore more.

This week’s posts:

And that’s it for this week’s LTB! Comics are fun, and I’d love to read more. One series I want to continue is The Lumberjanes, but other than that, I don’t have many in mind!

Do you read comics? If you do, what are some of your favorites? Chat with me in the comments below!

  1. I used to read a lot of webcomics when the internet was new (Unshelved, and Questionable Content), but that’s about it. I’ll glance at the Sunday ‘funnies’ if someone else buys a paper, but comic books were too expensive growing up (save for Archie digests), so I never got into the habit. — especially since most comics are only one part of huge storylines that compel readers to buy issue after issue to understand in full!

  2. Fun topic! I used to read comics more when I was younger (Archie, W.I.T.C.H, and Doraemon were my staples, lol) but I read more graphic novels now. I want to read more comics but most of the time I never really know where to start especially with Marvel/DC comics cos there are so many volumes!
