Hello, and happy Wednesday! We’re just a couple days away from October, which is crazy and a little scary to me as well. We’re so far through the year, and I don’t know how it’s already October. My birthday is just a couple weeks away, which I’m excited for but also is so, so soon.
Anyways, I have a quick little reading update to share with you. I haven’t had too much time to read this past week, but I finished one book and started a couple others so I’m just going to dive straight into the post.
WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On a World of Words, and how it works is each week I answer three questions about my the books I’ve read, finished reading and want to read next.

The three Ws:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
What are you currently reading?
I’m currently reading I Was Anastasia, by Ariel Lawhon, Bloody Spade, by Brittany M. Willows, Ace of Spades, by Faridah Àbíké Íyímídé, and The Gilded Wolves, by Roshani Chokshi.
I’m almost done with Ace of Spades, and it’s AMAZING. It’s an incredibly written thriller, and I’m flying through it. I’m probably going to finish it tonight or tomorrow, and I’m so excited to find out what happens next.
I’ve made no progress on Bloody Spade. I really want to read it, I just haven’t been able to get into a fantasy of any kind after finishing Our Violent Ends, but I want to finish it soon as well.
I got about 15% into Aria’s Traveling Bookshop, and so far it is really mediocre. It’s not terrible, it’s just not that good. I’m going to finish it, hopefully pretty soon, and I’ll review it. I’m hoping that it picks up, and gets a lot better.
I’m still rereading The Gilded Wolves, which isn’t going too fast, by I’m slowly chipping away at it. I’m really going to try and finish it soon, but I don’t know how well that’s going to go.
What did you recently finish reading?
I finished two books this week, both of which were amazing: Our Violent Ends, by Chloe Gong and I was Anastasia, by Ariel Lawhon.
The first book I read is Our Violent Ends, by Chloe Gong, and I loved every single page of this historical fantasy. It’s an amazing sequel to These Violent Delights, and I can’t wait to share my review with you all, which should be coming at the beginning of October!
The second book I finished is I Was Anastasia, by Ariel Lawhon, and it is a book that follows multiple timelines about a woman who claimed to be Anastasia Romanov. It took me a few weeks to get through, but about a third of the way through, it really picked up and I was so invested in the story.
What do you think you’ll read next?
Next, I want to read The Mime Order, by Samantha Shannon, The Kingdom of Back, by Marie Lu, and The Girls I’ve Been, by Tess Sharpe.
I really really need to get to The Mime Order, and I know that I’ll love this second book in the magnificent Bone Season series.
I have a feeling that when I finish Ace of Spades, I’ll be wanting another thriller to read, so it’s perfect that I have The Girls I’ve Been checked out from my school library.
A historical fantasy is also never a bad thing, and I’ve heard magnificent things about The Kingdom of Back. I can’t wait to read this one as well; it’s been on my TBR since it came out.

Have you read any of the books I mentioned? What are you currently reading? Chat with me in the comments below!
