Let’s Talk Bookish: Do you use your local library?

Hello, and happy Friday! I haven’t posted at all this month, yet, but I’ve been really busy. Between school and nanowrimo, I’ve had so little free time! I am really excited to for today’s LTB post though, and I had fun with the prompt. I also linked all of the posts from last week, since I never made a post about that one. Anyways, let’s get into this week’s Let’s Talk Bookish, which is all about libraries!!

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly bookish meme created by Rukky @ Eternity Books and has been hosted by me since April of this year! Each Friday, there is a discussion topic for bloggers to write about. This week’s topic is do you use your local library? (suggested by Mikaela @ Mikaela Reads).

Do you have a local library you go to often?

Yes! I love my local library, and I’m there a lot! I like going to write and work on blog stuff, and I can always get a lot done. I also volunteer at my library, and so I go in a couple times a month, and that’s always really fun!

On the second floor, there’s a really nice reading room, and it’s very open with lots of windows. I love going when it’s raining, and being able to look out at the rainy sky.

Does your school have a library?

It does! My high school has a really amazing library, and that’s something I’m really lucky to have access to. It’s open all through the school day, and a little before school and after school, so I spend a lot of time there. They have a lot of chairs and places to do homework and stuff, so sometimes I’ll going write there during lunch, and it’s nice to be able to go there.

They also have displays during different months, like for Black history month, and for women’s history month, so there are always lots of great books put on display.

What are your favorite things about libraries?

I love how libraries are really quiet, but not completely quiet, if that makes sense. You can hear people moving around, here pages being turned, and books being taken off and being put on shelves. It creates a really nice environment for reading & writing in.

Are there certain books you borrow from your local library more or less often than others?

There definitely are. I’m more likely to just pick up random books I see that look maybe interesting, or something like that. That way, if I don’t like it, it’s easy for me to just put the book back. I also check out books that I’ve heard good things about, but am not sure I’m going to like, for example if it’s by an author I’ve not read before. That way, if I love it it’s great, and if I don’t I’m not stuck with a physical copy I’m never going to touch again.
