Let’s Talk Bookish: Balancing Blogging and Life

Hello, and happy Friday! This has been a long week, but I got my school schedule today, which was exciting! I’m overall pretty excited for my classes this year, although I didn’t get put in French at all so I’m trying to get that added to my schedule. Anyways, I thought that since the start of school is coming up for me, this week’s LTB topic would be pretty fitting. So here are all my thoughts on balancing blogging and life!

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly bookish meme created by Rukky @ Eternity Books and has been hosted by me since April of this year! Each Friday, there is a discussion topic for bloggers to write about. This week’s topic is balancing blogging and life, which I came up with!

How do you manage balancing blogging and life?

I don’t really know. Sometimes I think I do a pretty good job, but sometimes, it’s really hard to do.

I try to make lists of my upcoming posts at the beginning of each month, and that way I’m able to plan ahead, and know what posts I want to do on what days.

In the past, I’ve also tried to fit my blogging schedule around the days that I had the most dance, but I’m not sure how that’s going to go this year, since my dance classes are on different days than last year.

I’ve been blogging for a while, and I do have some things figured out, but I still have a long ways to go on balancing blogging and life. Hopefully I’ll get better at it though, and I’m always learning more ways to stay on top of all the stuff I have to do.

In what ways does school get in the way of blogging?

Over the past few years, school has only made blogging harder and harder. When I started blogging, I was just about to go into 7th grade, and didn’t have a huge amount of homework. When the pandemic started, I had even more free time, and school didn’t take away from blogging that much because I had so little to do.

High school, however, has made things much harder. I have more homework, more stress, and much less energy to blog, so last year, blogging couldn’t be as much of a priority, especially during the end of the year.

Are there any ways that blogging can help with everyday life?

Blogging is something that always feels very consistent to me, and familiar. If I’m feeling overwhelmed with school or life or anything, blogging feels like something I can always go back to.

I also think that blogging has really helped to improve my writing, and that’s been very useful in school and stuff. I’m much better at writing essays, especially ones analyzing books, because I’ve written so many reviews.

Are there certain times of year when blogging becomes harder or more overwhelming?

Definitely! The beginning of the school year is hard, because I’m adjusting to having all my classes, and it takes some time to be able to find the time to blog. (Unfortunately, that time is coming up very soon…) The end of the school year is also hard, with finals and projects and all that.

I also find that blogging gets pretty overwhelming in January and February, at the beginning of the calendar year. Those months just feel more stressful in general, so it’s harder to find the energy for blogging.

And sometimes, I just find myself with less motivation and energy for blogging. I don’t always know why, but that happens too.
