WWW Wednesday 76

Hello, and Happy Wednesday! I hope that you are all having good weeks so far. Mine has been pretty busy, and I haven’t been able to read as much as I’ve wanted to, but I still have lots to say on the books I’ve read and am currently in the middle of. Anyways, I don’t have much else to say here, so I’m going to dive right into my little reading update for this week!

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On a World of Words, and how it works is each week I answer three questions about my the books I’ve read, finished reading and want to read next.

The three Ws:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

I am currently reading A Torch Against the Night, by Sabaa Tahir, The Samurai’s Garden, by Gail Tsukiyama, Archemenies, by Marissa Meyer and Realm Breaker, by Victoria Aveyard.

I’m reading The Samurai’s Garden for school, and I’m currently about ninety pages in. I think that it has a really interesting perspective on world war two, about a young Chinese man living in Japan in 1937, and I’ve enjoyed learning about some of the background on the book. I am not liking the writing style though; it’s very descriptive, and talks about so many tiny details, many of which seem unnecessary. The book so far has been very slow paced, and not a lot has happened. I hope that it gets more interesting as we get further into the book, but I doubt that’s going to happen.

I finally made some progress on A Torch Against the Night, by Sabaa Tahir, and it’s so good! It’s the sequel to An Ember in the Ashes, which I read almost a year ago, and I’ve been wanting to pick it up for a while. Now that I am reading it however, it is taking so long to get through! I did read another chunk of it this week though, and I will hopefully finish it in the next couple days.

I’m only a couple pages into Realm Breaker, and while I probably shouldn’t have started it while I’m in the middle of so many other books, I’m really loving it! I saw it in my school library, and had to check it out; I’ve wanted to read it since before it came out, and I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to get to it. I’ll probably read a lot more of it in the next week, and I’ll update you all with my thoughts on it then!

Archenemies is the second book in the Renegades trilogy by Marissa Meyer, and I’m loving it so much!! Its set in a world with superheroes- and lots and lots of supervillains. I especially love the names that are used for everyone; the Renegades, righteous pursuers of justice, the Anarchists, the worst of the villain gangs, and Prodigies, any powered person. Adrian, otherwise known as Sketch, is a Renegade, and Nova, known anonymously as Nightmare and known among the Renegades as Insomnia are the main characters, and its really fun to read about both of them. I’m listening to the audiobook, and they have different narrators which adds even more to the whole experience. I’m really excited to finish the whole trilogy!

What did you recently finish reading?

Last week, I finished reading one book: Renegades, by Marissa Meyer.

While I would have liked to read more than that, I’m so glad that I finally got around to reading Renegades!! It is such a fun book, and I love everything about it. The characters are great, with one of the main characters being a superhero, and the other being a supervillain. The tensions that this creates is written so well, and everything about the unique world is described very clearly, and isn’t difficult to understand. I’m so excited to continue with the series, and learn what happens next.

It is frustrating to me that I haven’t been able to change the books right here, on this list, but I’m going to have to keep them the same as they have been for the last couple weeks: A Deadly Education, by Naomi Novik, The Keeper of the Night, by Kylie Lee Baker and Empire of the Sun, by J. G. Ballard.

If I can finish A Torch Against the Night, then over the weekend I’m going to try and read one of these. Hopefully, next week you’ll all get to see some new books in this section.

Have you read any of the books I mentioned? What are you currently reading? Chat with me in the comments below!
