Hello! This post is coming a few days later than I’d planned it for, but I’ve had a lot of fun with the review!! Feather Frost is a wonderful book, and I’m excited to share my thoughts on it, so I’m going to get right into the review!
This review is spoiler free, for this book and the one before. You can read my review of the first book here!

Feather Frost
Author: K. C. Simos
Publisher: Self published
Release Date: November 19th, 2019
Genre: Middle grade, fantasy
Synopsis:
When Prince Anders disappears from the Palace in very mysterious circumstances, his childhood friend Eliza suspects there may be truth in the myths and legends of the land. The decision to test her theories results in a test of her own strengths, and in searching for the missing prince she finds answers to questions about her own past.
I received copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion and my review.

Feather Frost is the second book in The Dryad’s Cede series, and is a wonderful sequel to the first book. In Feather Frost, the main character Eliza is five years older than before, and it’s really fun to see how she has grown up.
She is seventeen in this book, but hasn’t changed too much!! In a lot of middle grade and YA books, teenagers often are written as older than they are, but Eliza was very a seventeen year old girl.
We also learn a lot about her history, and her mysterious past, something I’d wondered about quite a bit!!
A large part of the book is the way that Hans Christian Anderson’s fairy tales were woven into the story, and I thought the fairy tales were done even better in this book than before!
There were multiple of his stories that were main parts of the book, such as the little mermaid, and I just loved reading it.
My favorite part of the book was probably how the story of the snow queen was made a part of Feather Frost. I’ve always loved the tale, and it’s such an interesting one. K. C. Simos did an amazing job making it a part of the book.
There were also many wonderful side characters, all written with wonderful depth. Søren in particular was one who I loved. It was fascinating to read about his experiences with the Ice Maiden, one of Eliza’s foes.
Like in the previous book, I really enjoyed the writing! It is clear, descriptive, and is perfect for young readers who love fairy tales.
It’s definitely not only for younger kids though: I think that any older teen or adult reading would enjoy it. Most people are familiar with the fairy tales like Snow White and Cinderella, if only the watered down Disney versions, but there are so many wonderful stories out there, some more recognizable than others.
In Feather Frost, a reader fan of Hans Christian Anderson would find many familiar pieces of stories.
The plot is also quite unique, and very entertaining! I read most of the book in one sitting, not wanting to stop for one moment.
I didn’t have the extra spark I’d give a five star read, but I did really like it, so I’m rating it four stars!
I also thought that Feather Frost was even better than the first book, Kindled Embers. I liked how much of it was focused on Eliza, and her past. It was so wonderful to get to learn more about her, something I’d been wanting since I read the first book!

K. C. Simos is the author of middle-grade series ‘The Dryad’s Cede’, and YA trilogy ‘Ambrosia Chronicles’.
K. C. is a fan of good food and a lover of compelling stories.

Feather Frost, by K. C. Simos is a wonderful middle-grade fantasy, perfect for fans of fairy tales, both young and old. I definitely recommend the book to anyone with a younger cousin, or sibling, and to anyone who loves the stories of Hans Christian Anderson.
