I was tagged for this by Ruby a while ago, and I’m excited to finally be getting to it! I read a few of the Babysitters Club books in elementary school, although I never really got into the series. My sister loves them though, and she always is listening to the audiobooks, so I’ve ended up hearing bits and peices of a lot of the books!

Anyways, the prompts are all really fun, so I’m going to get right into the tag!

The prompts:

Aru Shah, the main character of the Pandava series, which starts with Aru Shah and the End of Time is an incredibly strong, female character. Aru is sarcastic and funny, and is also really able to be a leader and step up in terms of making the right decisions to accomplish what she needs to, protect her friends and family, and often, to save the entire world.

Amy Cahill from the 39 clues series is a character who gains a lot of confidence throughout all of the series. In the first books, she is very shy, and is often overwhelmed in situations with lots of people. Amy is intimidated by her relatives, and by the responsibilities placed on her in the clue hunt, and after her grandmothers death.

As the books go on, she really grows as a person, and becomes more confident in herself and her abilities. Amy comes to be a really amazing character and person, and her character arc is done very well!!

Genya Safin from the Shadow and Bone trilogy is stylish, creative, strong, and overall amazing. Genya is one of my favorite Grishaverse characters, and I think that her character development and storyline is one of my favorites. She is such a powerful Grisha, and has such a complicated, heartbreaking and well throught out life and story. I love reading about her in all of the books she appears in, and I hope that in the future if there are more Grishaverse books, we’ll get to see more of her.

I also can’t wait to see her in the Netflix adaptation!!

Even though I’ve probably read many books with this trope, for some reason the only one I could think of was New Kid, by Jerry Craft. I read it a little while, and thought that it was okay. It’s a graphic novel, and I’m not a huge fan of graphic novels, so I think that might have made me enjoy reading it less.

For this, I’m going to go with the same book as Ruby! Dress Coded, by Carrie Firestone is an amazing middle-grade book about an 8th grader named Molly as she fights against her schools unfair and sexist dress code, by starting a podcast. It’s a really incredible book, and definitely one that I would recommend reading to really anyone!
