October 2020 wrap up and September goals

I can’t believe that it’s almost November!! 2020 is coming to an end, and I’m very excited for this year to be over. You might notice that it’s not quite the end of October, but I decided to do my wrap up post today, since I have a special halloween post coming tomorrow!

In October I read 13 books…

  • 1 was an audiobook
  • 2 were ebooks
  • 10 were physical books

I read fewer books than I was hoping to in October, but I loved all of the ones that I did read! I started off my month with Premeditated Myrtle, and How to Get Away with Myrtle, by Elizabeth C. Bunce, both of which I read for a blog tour! I then reread the first four books in The Trials of Apollo series, by Rick Riordan in preparation for the fifth and final book, The Tower of Nero, which came out on October 6th. That book was amazing and wonderful and an incredibly emotional read.

I then read Aru Shah and the End of Time, by Roshani Chokshi which I loved so, so much!! Today, I read the second book in the series, Aru Shah and the Song of Death, and I thought that it was just as good a book! I’m so excited to read the copy of the third book that I borrowed from the library!

I also read Piecing Me Together, by Renée Watson, which I really loved. At some parts, I felt the writing wasn’t for me, but overall I really loved it! I read (or really finished reading) The Sword Thief, by Peter Lerangis with my friend.

The last two books I read were rereads, and were The Titan’s Curse and The Last Olympian, by Rick Riordan.

My goals for posting in September were…

In September I wrote 19 posts, which is actually a lot more than I expected I would. I think that what worked best for me was only really writing posts that I really wanted to write, which meant some different posts than usual. The only thing that I wish I’d done more of was tags, but other than that, I’m pretty happy!

One thing that I have learned from my book blog is that I am TERRIBLE at sticking to TBRs. This month, I made a list of seven books that I am definitely going to try and read this month.

I am so excited for all of them!

Since November is NaNoWriMo, I’m not going to have as much time to blog, which is why I’m probably going to be posting less. I have some stuff scheduled though, so that will hopefully make it so I don’t disappear completely!

  • 2 Top Ten Tuesdays
  • 2 WWW Wednesdays
  • 2 Reviews
  • 2 Let’s Talk Bookish/Discussions
  • 2 Tags
  • 2 Writing Updates
  • 3 My Bookish Rambles
  • 3 Other posts

That’s 18 posts, and I honestly have no idea if I’ll be able to manage that. I will try though, and I’m just going to see how that all goes.

November is NaNoWriMo, and I am so excited to be participating for the first time! I actually wrote an entire post on my goals for the month, and a little about my project.

My main goals for the month though are to write 30 000 words, and to finish a first draft of the novel!

Life

School has been pretty meh. Canvas is a nightmare, but I’ve pretty much figured things out. I do not, however, ever recommend doing a PE class over zoom. My teacher is fine with us turning our cameras off, but still. Not fun.

The election is coming up in just a few days, and I am really, really nervous. If you live in the US and can vote, please, please do.

And Covid cases are on the rise. How wonderful. But really, wear a mask, social distance, and do what you can to slow the spread of the virus because it is really bad, and we need to do our best.

And as if 2020 wasn’t bad enough, our perfect Halloween must be canceled. It’s not big compared to so many other things happening, but Halloween couldn’t be better timed this year. It’s on a Saturday, so no school, and it’s even a full moon.

My birthday was this month, and I turned 14. I saw a few friends (outside and distanced, of course) which was fun, although it definitely wasn’t the 14th birthday I ever would have imagined!

And that is where I am going to end my wrap up! October was as good as any month of this crazy year has been, and I read some great books, and I’m happy about that! I’m really excited for NaNoWriMo this November, and I’m extremely nervous for the election, but I’m going to try and do my best with everything throughout the next few weeks.

How was your October? What are some things you’re planning to do in November? Wear a mask, vote, social distance and chat with me in the comments below!

  1. Happy belated birthday Aria!!! I’m glad to see you had a great October! And my PE teacher requires cameras to be on…. 1/10 do not recommend doing chest expansions over Google Meets. It’s a scary experience 😂

Ahh wishing you best of luck with NaNoWriMo!! And I hope you have a beautiful November as well 🥰 Great wrap-up!

  2. Wow despite not reading as many books as you wanted, it still looked like you had an amazing month! Wow to 19 posts and indeed we should write more posts we actually want to and not be pressured… Ahhh I’m so excited for you to get into KOTLC, it is an easy but engaging read I have ventured into so many times. ❤
