Hi! This Tuesday’s topic is really fun, and I’m excited for it! This week’s topic is Books I Read Because Someone Recommended Them to Me, and I’m going to include books that have been given to me in that, because I feel like that can all work in one big category.
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl where there is a topic and you make a list that best fits that topic!
1 Dress Codes for Small Towns, by Courtney Stevens was recommended to me by one of my friends, and she actually lent me her copy of it to read. I read it about a month ago (I think) and I loved it so much! It took a bit of time to get into, but once I did, I really enjoyed reading it.
2 The same friend recommended Piecing me Together, by Renée Watson, and I actually just read it yesterday. It was such a powerful read, and so incredible. The writing style wasn’t always my favorite, but overall I think that it’s a very important book to read.
3 I’m kind of cheating with The Taming of the Drew, by Stephanie Kate Strohm because I’m currently reading it right now, but it sort of fits with this week’s topic, so I’m going to use it anyways. This one was recommended (and lent to me) by the same friend, and I’m really liking it so far. I’m about halfway through, and I’m excited to see what happens in the next part of the book.
4 A friend gave me a copy of Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus for my birthday a few years ago, and I’m so glad she did, because it is now one of my favorite books, and I’ve read it so many times! Aven is such a wonderful character, and is overall amazing
5 My mom’s friend gave me a copy of Ordinary Girls, by Blair Thornburgh, and I really, really loved it! It’s such a wonderful book, and the sisters in it are so great!
6 The Penderwicks series, by Jeanne Birdsall is one of my all time favorite book series, and the first one that I read was actually the second book in the series, *gasp* The Penderwicks on Gardam Street. How I was introduced to those books was that my neighbor gave me a copy of the Penderwicks on Gardam Street, which I still have to this day.
And that is where I’m going to end this today! I’m feeling pretty tired because of school, so here are only six books. I also am going back to the old way that I formatted my TTT posts. What do you think of it? Is it harder to read?
