Jane’s questions:

What book did you love, but didn’t expect it to be one of your favorites?

I usually go into books with pretty high expectations, but there is one book that I never expected to like. In fact, I read it in third grade and didn’t like it at all. I couldn’t even finish it. Now, that book is more than just one of my favorites, I mean, you all know how much I love The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, right?

Now, Rick Riordan is one of my very favorite authors, but it hasn’t always been that way!

What do you prefer: book to movie or book to TV adaption?

I think that I honestly wouldn’t care, as long as they did the book justice. Unfortunately, they usually don’t. I haven’t actually seen a lot of book to film adaptations, but the last one, which I actually watched last night, wasn’t great.

However, I do think that a book to TV adaptions are better because there are most likely going to be more opportunity to incorporate main events in the book into the show, with the multiple episodes.

We are going to really be able to see if that’s true when the Percy Jackson Disney plus series comes out, and I am soooo excited to watch it!

What’s your favorite classic and why?

I do not read a lot of classics, but I would say that the Little House books are my favorites! Although my views on them have changed, they were still my very first favorite books, and I love them.

Are you a neat-freak when it comes to organizing your books?

I am… sort of. I really want my books to be perfect and look pretty and be organized and all that, but I never get to it. One of my goals for this month is actually to reorganize and clean my bookshelf.

Do you enjoy eating/drinking while reading?

Definitely! I love having a cup of tea to drink while I read, or if it’s really hot (like it is right now) something cooler, and I will snack while I read. If I’m just eating, I’ll most likely read; either a physical book or an audiobook or an ebook just because, well, books.

What’s your favorite reading spot?

My chair. It sounds weird, but for Hanukkah last year I got a chair. It has two pillows and is really comfy and I love reading in it. I also love reading in my bed. My bed has blankets and pillows and I love reading in it. I also love reading in the hammock that we have outside our house. At least if it’s not too cold.

There are a lot of places that I love reading. As long as I’m comfortable, then I’m good with it!

Which books shaped your childhood?

As I mentioned above, the Little House books were my very first favorite books, and were my favorites for years. Some other books are the Boxcar Children books, and The Penderwicks series.

Did you discover any amazing books lately? If yes, which ones?

I definitely did! The Henna Wars, by Adiba Jaigirdar and The Poppy War, by R. F. Kuang are just two fantastic books that I’ve discovered and read in the last few months.

How do you deal with the blogging-stress?

I don’t usually get that stressed about blogging, and I think that’s mostly because I don’t force myself to spend more time than I actually have blogging. When I do get stressed about not finishing a post on time, or anything like that, I just remind myself that book blogging is a hobby, and that it’s not supposed to be stressfull.

Which author would you love to meet in person – and what would you ask them?

I would definitely want to meet Kimberly Brubaker Bradley, the author of The War that Saved my Life and other books. I actually did get to inverview her virtually a few months ago, but if I could meet her in person I would want to have a conversation about the sort of research she does for her books, and about her writing in general.

Another author who I’d want to meet is C. G. Drews, the author of A Thousand Perfect Notes and The Boy Who Steals Houses. She has a book blog called Paper Fury, which I love reading, and she seems so friendly! I would want to ask her about what it’s like being an author and having a book blog, and just talk about books in general.

What’s your favorite aspect about blogging?

I feel like I always say this, but my favorite part of book blogging is definitely the community! You are all so sweet, and I love having conversations about books and bookish things!
