WWW Wednesday 21

Hello! It’s late, and today has been a crazy day, so I’m going to go straight into my weekly reading update, WWW Wednesday. WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On a World of Words, and how it works is each week I answer three questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

I am currently reading The Only Road, by Alexandra Diaz and The School for Good and Evil, by Soman Chainani. The School for Good and Evil is a really interesting book. When I read it for the first time, I loved it. I had the reaction of ‘that’s the best book I’ve read!’ I rated it 5 stars and could find no flaws. Now, my opinion has very much changed. After reading it quite a few times, there are a few little things that stick out to me, bother me, and make me like the book a little less. I think that this is maybe the third time I’ve read The Only Road, and I really like it. I reviewed it a while ago, but it’s a much shorter and less complete review, mostly made up of a summary, but it does show my opinions though!

What did you recently finish reading?

I recently finished reading Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus, by Dusti Bowling and The Girl Who Drank the Moon, by Kelly Barnhill. I really love Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus, and I think that The Girl Who Drank the Moon is an incredible book, and that every one of you should go read it right now. I’m not kidding. It has magic, investigates what magic really is, and has a girl named Luna, a witch named Xan, a swamp monster named Glerk and a really sweet dragon named Fyrian, to name a few. So if your like fantasy, if you like adventure, if you’ve ever considered picking up a book to read, this books for you. And because this isn’t supposed to be my review of The Girl Who Drank the Moon, (although I want to have a review coming relatively soon), I’ll move on now. I guess. I will.

If you want to see all the books I’ve read so far this year, check out my Goodreads, where I (mostly) keep up with all the books I read.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Next, I’m going to continue to rerereread the OBOB (Oregon Battle of the Books, a reading competition comprehension thing that I’m doing) books, and I think more specifically I’ll reread The Novice, by Taran Matharu, The First Rule of Punk, by Celia C. Perez and It Ain’t So Awful, Falafel, by Firoozeh Dumas!

What are you currently reading? Have you read any of the books I mentioned? Chat with me in the comments below!

  1. Ooh, I really liked The Novice! I should get to the sequels some day but.. life, right? I saw the author at a meet-up once and he was so funny too! I especially liked how he himself sold his book as “a mix of Pokémon, Harry Potter and …” I can’t remember the third thing, oops.. But, that sold me even harder on his books!

    1. That is so cool that you got to meet the author!!! The first time I read the novice, I really didn’t like it, but then I reread it and like it a lot more now!

      1. It was my first ever author event. I was SO nervous! Ha, it’s something that’s happened to me before as well. I still have to reread The Raven Cycle since I thought it was just “meh” the first time around and people keep telling me I’ll love it if I gave it another read so.. maybe?
