Wow! I cannot believe that I have been blogging already for one half a year. That is crazy. That is insane. And this post is two days late, which means that I’ve been blogging for MORE than half a year. 6 months and two days. Anyways, for this post, I am including my answers to the book blogging firsts tag, a Q & A with me, and a feedback form, so I can hear all of your feedback on my blog!
Where I started:
It was the end of August. School was rapidly approaching. I’d been thinking about starting a blog for a bit, but hadn’t gotten around to doing it. You see, my dad had suggested to me once or twice a while back about starting a book blog, and I had been like, umm no way will I ever want random people to read my writing, however, I’d been wanting to a little more for a while.
Usually, I do my research, ya know, in this case, maybe read a book blog or twenty, but to be honest, before I started this blog, I had never ever in my life read another book blog. I didn’t know that book blogging was a thing. I thought that I would do would be to review books.
I was very very wrong.
Book blogging is so much more than just reviewing books. Book blogging is about sharing your thoughts and opinions on books with other people, about being a part of this community, and is so much more then I ever could have imagined it would be.
So, because it’s been six months since I started blogging, I figured I would travel back in time, and share with you my answers to the book blogging firsts tag. I was not actually tagged for this, but I saw it on Eternity Books, and I thought it would be a perfect thing to include in this post!
My first blog name and design
My blog name has not changed a single time. I started out as Book Nook Bits, and here I am, 6 months later, Book Nook Bits.
The design of my blog, however, has evolved a lot! I started out with no graphics at all, and I first used the Stow theme. I used the image to the left as my header, and had a more orangy and fall themed color scheme, if you can call it that.
It’s a nice image, but completely different from what I have now.
Then, and this next design you might recognize if you’ve been reading my blog since yesterday, I used the button two theme and had a very extremely flowery site.
And now I have what is right in front of you. As of late last night, I am using the Toujours theme,
My first blog post
My first blog post was titled A Little About Me, and well, the title explains what it’s about. My second post, published on August 21st, exactly six months ago is a welcome post. Kind of a repeat of what was before, but, it was the example post anyways, and I was still figuring out the complications of WordPress everything!
My first book review
My first review was of Wednesday Wars, which is still to this very day, one of my all time favorite books. My reviews have definitely much improved. For a comparison, look at one of my more recent reviews.
My first meme participated in
The first meme I participated in was a WWW Wednesday.
My first discussion post
My first discussion post was a Let’s Talk Bookish post about whether or not TBRs are necessary to become a book blogger or reader. My overall opinions have not changed since I wrote that, however, I do now use Goodreads, have an actually TBR and track the books I read, so that part has indeed very much changed.
The First Book Blog I Followed
The first blog I followed was Eternity Books. This was actually the first book blog that I read, and Rukky was the first person to read and comment on my posts a bunch, so you should definitely go check out her blog.
My First Follower
My first follower was Ailish Sinclair. You should go read her blog as well.
The First Book I Read Because of Other Bloggers
I don’t know. There are a lot of books I read, and I don’t always have the best memory for this sort of thing, however, The Guilded Wolves, by Roshani Chokshi is definitely the most recent book that I read because of other bloggers. I tend to also pick up any random book that happens to be within my line of sight, so I’m not great at getting to books quickly. The Six of Crows duology is another two books that I read because of other bloggers, and those two and The Guilded Wolves are now two of my favorite books, so I guess those work? I’m really not the best at keeping track of the books I read.
Well, that ends the book blogging firsts tag! Now, I introduce to you, an idea that I had after seeing it on many other blogs, a Q & A and feedback form!
I had the idea to do this because I’ve seen this sort of thing on a bunch of other blogs, and it seemed like a fun way for you all to learn a little more about me, and for me to get some feedback on what you think of my blog!
